Winter Sunrise Over Gardner Bay
Commissioned Project: Over the winter I was asked to capture this magnificent sunrise on canvas. The first day I arrived it was 2 degrees out but the sunrise was spectacular. I took some photos to go back to the studio and plan the painting. The second visit found a beautiful and slightly warmer morning of 15 degrees. I did a quick oil sketch as the sun rose before my eyes. After an hour I couldn’t feel my fingers but I had what I needed to work in my studio. This is the finished piece.
